Wow, a whole month and not a Blog post in sight. I blame it all on National Novel Writing Month. It wasn’t easy, but that’s a blog all in itself. I will say that for the month of November, it took everything in me to admit to myself that I wasn’t going to make 50,000 words with twitter up and running on my screen. So, I had to shut it down, and shut it down I did. Completely. Not only did I put Twitter on pause, but I also put all other writing on pause as well, including my blogs. But don’t fret, my friends. Let the Blogging begin!
Yes, you heard meh! I am back on line and am ready to start where I left off. But, trust me, it is easier said than done.
I have a dilemma. I have all these topics I want to write about but don’t know if I should just keep it all on one blog or split them up. I need some advice. I may just need to give in and create my own web site instead of my own blog, but that, of course, costs. And we’re not talking peanuts either. For those new subscribers, I’ve got several blogs that I started creating right before National Novel Writing Month.
First, let me list the Blogs. Then, I will list the topics I want to write about:
- Blessedbklynite.wordpress.com
- Bklynqueenuncut.wordpress.com
- Helpspreadthegospel.wordpress.com
- The-y-files.tumblr.com
- Mentalitylistens.blogspot.com
Now, here are the topics I would like to cover:
- God/Jesus
- Photography
- Painting
- Writing/Blogging
- DC United/Soccer
- Poetry
- Mission Trips
- Coping with Pain
- Veteran’s Affairs/Veterans
- Marine Corps
- Politics
Do you see my dilemma? I would like to hear from my readers what they would do if they were me. Go on…don’t be shy! Leave a comment and help a sistah out!
I would like to thank you for the efforts you’ve put in writing this site. I’m hoping the same high-grade site post from you in the upcoming as well. Actually your creative writing skills has encouraged me to get my own blog now. Actually the blogging is spreading its wings fast. Your write up is a good example of it.
Just a smiling visitor here to share the love (:, btw great design . “Forget regret, or life is yours to miss.” by Jonathan Larson.
Well thought out and refreshingly logical comments for a change. Very nice to see. Check out this blog I came across that showed me a few different causes of panic attacks that I did not know about. It helped me stop anxiety attacks for good!
Wonderful web site. A lot of helpful information here. I am sending it to a few pals ans also sharing in delicious. And certainly, thanks for your effort!
Thanks so much for the post.Really looking forward to read more. Much obliged.
great info
Some really nice and utilitarian info on this site, as well I believe the design and style has fantastic features.
Real nice style and great articles , nothing else we need : D.
Admiring the dedication you put into your site and detailed information you present. It’s great to come across a blog every once in a while that isn’t the same outdated rehashed material. Wonderful read! I’ve bookmarked your site and I’m including your RSS feeds to my Google account.
I have never thought of my blog to be exclusively for one topic. I like to classify it as eclectic; a place where I take to in order to discuss things that humor me, confuse me, or simply catch my interest. I like to showcase my dog, Roxy, and her escapades, as well as narrate situations and even conversations I have with family members. For the most part, I guess you could say my blog was humourous, but I also like to discuss serious and controversial subjects. I would say that you have to find your niche. Classifying your subjects by different blogs will be helpful, but updating a lot of blogs will be very demanding and challenging. Personally, I don’t think I could run more than two blogs. I’m afraid I’d see it as work and then all the fun would be gone! 🙂
It’s a good thing I’m not currently working 🙂 But I can see what you mean as far as having a lot to update and handle. That’s what I was worried about. Now that I have decided on keeping everything on WordPress, it seems a lot simpler. Everything is in one spot, and it is a lot more organized than what I had it before. I am about a quarter of the way done with having all four blogs ready to go, but I am actually having fun with it now. I don’t feel overwhelmed like I did at first and I’m excited that I’m still going to be able to write about everything that interests me and at the same time, have my readers go specifically to the blog that interests them. I CANT’ WAIT!!!!
My honest opinion is that you’ve probably got too much to reasonably write about.
It’s been my experience that the more diverse a blog is, the less successful it tends to be. The blogs I go back to most often are the ones that stick to a single topic pretty single-mindedly. I don’t recommend trying to cram all that into one blog. But I don’t think you necessarily have to abandon any topics either. I would suggest splitting them up thusly:
BLOG 1:
God/Jesus
Mission Trips
BLOG 2:
Photography
Painting
Writing/Blogging
Poetry
BLOG 3:
Coping with Pain
Veteran’s Affairs/Veterans
Marine Corps
Politics
BLOG 4:
DC United/Soccer
That’s how I’d do it, anyway.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I agree about having a single topic for a blog. That’s what I was trying to do when I started splitting them up. But your chart above makes it a lot easier to categorize each blog. Well, I better get to work! 🙂
Glad to help! I’ve been through this myself. In one of my previous blogs, I tried to blog about everything I liked — books! music! tv! movies! games! It turned out to be way too much to focus on. The narrower I got, the more productive I was, and the more fun I had. Good luck!
Thank you! I’m so excited now!!! Hehe… I got an excuse for creating more blogs and it’s a good one too! I think I’ll keep them all with WordPress. Thinking about upgrading to Pro.
Helpspreadthegospel.wordpress.com is still in the works, so it is not online as of right now. Stay tuned.
